DESCRIPTION:
APW - Illinois, Bunn Special with rare bright spotted damascene, 23J, 16S, gold-filled OF original case, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel, raised gold jewel settings, gold train, bright spotted pattern nickel damascene, s#2577276. The bright spotted damascene was the first pattern used among 16 size Bunn Special production. This damascene is rare among 23 jewel 16 size Bunn Specials with a total of 510 produced in three different variants; the present variant being a Model 9 with "Double Roller" marking is believed to be of 300 total production.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, winds stiffly, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, few tiny specks of oxide to regulator assembly and winding wheels, few scattered micro-fine scratches to plates; dial with many scattered outer chapter hls, scratch at 8; fine hands, hour and minute are plum colored, seconds-hand is blue and somewhat short; case shows medium wear, profuse fine to micro-fine scratches and scuffs to rear, scattered dings to band, thick strip of wear to brass to band bottom, few small spots of wear to brass to pendant; brassy bow pivots freely, crown shows ample wear; thick glass crystal with many scattered scratches and a small edge chip at 9:30.
